My friend Susan has "Music Monday" posts, so I'm borrowing her idea. ;)
When Jeremy and I met in the Jester dorm at UT in the fall of '95, we each had pretty extensive CD collections. When all of our CDs were put together, we had only 3 duplicates: They Might Be Giants' Flood, Weezer's first album, and August and Everything After by Counting Crows. The first summer we were dating, we made each other mixed tapes (remember those?), and we both put the Counting Crows song Anna Begins on our tapes. I knew he liked the band, but I thought it was so cool that we both loved that song.
I decided in the summer 1996 that I was going to marry Jeremy and have a daughter one day named Anna Katherine. She'd have blonde hair and blue eyes, and we'd name her after our favorite Counting Crows song. Oh, how I love a good plan...
Well, twelve years later, here we are. We're married, and we have our beautiful Anna. Here's the song she's named after. We've seen Counting Crows in concert a couple times, and have heard them sing the song. It's really one of my all-time favorites--but they jam and change it up a bit in concert. So, please forgive the cheesy video and just listen to the song. It's the only youtube clip I could find with the cut from the CD.

Love that song, Katie! Only heard it through you and Jeremy. I do remember you telling us that Anna Katherine would be your girl's name some day. Liked your blog.
I had never heard this song until you played this for me on the way home from the 10k...I even put it on my ipod..I love this song..great post..
I miss mix tapes!! What a sweet story!
Cute! I love reading that you "decided you were going to marry Jeremy" did he know this :)?
i am pretty sure this is on a mixed tape that james made for me back in '96. love it! love your blog!
I remember Rock Fest (in '96?) when the Counting Crows sang this and y'all telling me this then!! I also remember you almost didn't name her Anna because you knew some other Anna's already and I remember telling you if you didn't you'd regret it. I can't imagine our Anna with any other name! Love this song too.
