Spring has Sprung!

Last week was Spring Break. Obviously we didn't go anywhere since I'm about to pop, but we tried to have some fun around here. Lauren came to visit for a few days, and we took the kids to the Houston Children's Museum.

Thomas and Anna in the VW Bus

The "store" was a big hit with all 3.

Remember that book Caps for Sale?

Thomas is 6 years old, and this is the first time he has EVER done face paint.

Holy Week was wonderful. All the masses were beautiful and prayerful. I didn't sing at the Vigil Mass this year--nighttime is not my good time. We had some new music this year and there was a poignant song we learned called Silent Tears for Good Friday. It was perfect for the Veneration of the Cross, and I wanted to quickly post some of the lyrics.

Silent Tears--lyrics by Herb Frombach

She was silent, not a word. Only tears would speak for her.
Though her heart was surely broken, silent tears are all that's spoken.
She recalls her tears of joy; Bethlehem, her precious boy.
Love was born to bring us life, now silent tears behold His strife.

One tear flows and then another, One from the Son, And then the mother,
they drop together to the ground, into the dust without a sound.
She stood and watched her Son defiled. She stood and heard the angry crowd.
No words of hate, her silent tears would say it all.
She was silent, not a word. Her aching heart could not be heard.
Only tears, silent tears.

Conversation between me and Jeremy on Saturday (dramatized):

Me: Hey, Jeremy, let's bathe the kids and put their Easter clothes on and do pictures today. It will be SO busy and hectic in the morning before church. Isn't that a good idea?

Jeremy: Great idea.

Me: They're going to look so precious in their new Easter clothes. Especially the girls in their sweet, matching dresses.

Jeremy: Yes, our children are just the sweetest, most beautiful children EVER.

Me: (after the kids are dressed) Let's go outside and take some shots! I can't wait to get some wonderful pictures of the kids.

Jeremy: Yes, and after we take some pictures here and in front of the neighbor's lush landscape, we'll go down to the neighborhood lake and get some wonderful shots with the water in the background.

Me: I like the way you think, Jeremy.

The Results:

The bribing started..."Rose, I'll give you some Skittles if you say 'cheese!'"

"Hey, look at that dog over there!"

Hmmm, last I checked, we had a couple of daughters around here somewhere. Oh well, he's posing nice. Take the shot.

4 Days and Counting...

A friend from choir took our picture after church--this is as good as it gets. Rose took her hair out, Jeremy's sleeves were rolled up, and my shoes were off--took them off at the end of mass, and couldn't get them back on my swollen feet. Oops.

It was a good idea you had for the kid's Easter pictures!! I can see in my head pictures of us on Easter outside or on the porch with our baskets and squinting in the sun and then the one year when we were way too old reinacting it! dorks!

YOU ARE FUNNY! I like the "dramatization" even though it is REALLY obvious! (And Melanie's comment cracks me up because I know what pictures she speaks of!)

I love the pics!! We couldn't get Garrett to cooperate in ours either. So I have a great pic of 4 of my 5 children!! And a whole bunch of 4 cooperative children and Garrett throwing a fit on the side!!
