Staycation Day 1

August 11th--Discovery Green, Hermann Park, Houston Museum of Natural Science

Anna had Critter Camp every day from 9-3.  That gave us a lot of time to fall in love with this city every day.  And that we did.  While I'm sad Anna wasn't with us on our adventures, she loved her time at the SPCA.

First stop:  Discovery Green.  We went first thing in the morning because, well, mid-August.  It's hot.
Who doesn't love a park in the middle of downtown?  A splash pad amongst the sky scrapers and Minute Maid Park.

The Kona Ice Truck came!  Let's have a Snow cone!  We're on staycation.  ;)

Next up:  picnic under some shade at Hermann Park before we went to see the Panda movie on the Giant Screen at HMNS.
We all spoil him.  Seriously.  I think the big kids begged me to buy him a ticket to ride this T-rex more than he did!  "Oh come on Mommy!  He would be so cuuuute up there and it's only $5!"

Sam Houston and the kids
We always seize the opportunity to run down the Hermann Park hill.  Even when it's sweltering outside.
