Won't you take me to out of...Funky Town?

I'll admit. I've been in quite a funk lately.

And I have NO business being in this pity party-woe is me-funky town mood. I don't. Not at all.

Funk -- I got rear-ended last week. This marks the fourth time (in as many years) that this has happened. $2800 damage, and a week in a smallish rental car.
Blessing -- No one was hurt. Other driver's insurance covered everything. Even the rental. And, it was sort of fun driving a new car around for a week. Heck, I own a car. I never have to rely on public transportation or any one person to get me from point A to point B.

Funk -- I've been missing people lately. Old, faraway friends. My sisters. My parents. Sometimes keeping up with people via social networking leaves me feeling lonely and missing them even more.
Blessing -- I do have a phone and a computer. I have the daily opportunity to check in with faraway friends. I'm not in some bunker in Afghanistan. I'm a housewife in Texas. (See what I mean? I seriously need to get over myself sometimes.) (And, yes. I said housewife.)

Funk -- UT football.
Blessing -- Um...watching old UT football players in the NFL? I kid, I kid. I'm still sporting orange on Saturdays and cheering on the Horns. It's just a bit funkier than usual.

Also, it's hard to stay in a funk when...
you've got this little clown around
making people giggle
with her funny antics, sweet spirit,
and contagious smile.
It's also hard to stay in a funk when...
the clown hat reminds me of another Halloween
six years ago.
The costume was new. The hat still had a flower on it. Today it just has a curly wire poking out of the top. It hadn't seen the inside of the costume trunk yet. Ah, the costume trunk. Where old costumes go to die be worn by the kids and their friends during every playdate we've ever had.
I've always thought Lucy bore a striking resemblance to her big brother. I still stand by that.

I just have to open my eyes, and stay focused on the abundance God has given me to stay out of any funk. Because I have no business being in a funk.

No business at all. :)

Thanks for posting this Katie...I've been in a funk too...this week has been long, tough, and I just want everyone to stop peeking me for like, 48 hours. Glad to konw it's not just me!

And I know I don't need to have a pity party either. ;-)

Katie....this is perfect! I think more people should do this! Instead of Pros vs. Cons....Funks vs Blessings! Love you!! (And I miss you, too....and your kids!)

So sorry you've been in a funk...no fun. I hate living far away from everyone I love too...my immediate family and my best friends. Your little lady is a very cute clown though...and I agree, I think she looks like Thomas. :)

Oh man, I hear you on the funk thing. I loved your post and you are so right, the blessings really put it into perspective. Except for the UT football part...but then again, I've been in a funk about the Aggies for a while now.

This JUST popped up into my blog reader for some reason. Argh!

Anyway...the funk. Been there, done that my friend. It's no fun, but it will pass. Here's hoping your little clowns bring you joy today. They are precious, and so are you. :)
