We have lived in Houston for 16 years, and driven through Huntsville countless times. We always wave at Big Ole' Sam on our way to and from Fort Worth, but have never stopped to look around. We traveled to Fort Worth this week for Donald's dad, Stan's funeral, and had some time to visit the statue and the Sam Houston Museum next to the Sam Houston State University campus.
Sam is 77 feet tall.
This was the house Sam Houston built for his family in Huntsville. Four of his children were born here.
This was pretty awesome, and I'd love to stop again when we have more time.
We thought we'd have Whataburger after a morning of Texas Heritage. Apropos, don't you think?
