The kids' Central Challenge was scheduled for first thing Friday morning. We left the hotel before 7:00 so we could make it to campus so the kids could go to the prop room, get costumes on, warm up, etc. Everyone was focused and ready.
Their performance at Globals was their best one yet. They spoke clearly, didn't rush, had fun, and were relaxed. It was awesome. And a fabulous exclamation point to their journey.

(It was all fun and games until Carter and Cooper's sister Olivia dropped her credentials in the dumpster, and someone had to dumpster dive to retrieve it. Trust me--there was so much giggling happening. Another mom and I had to chase down a UT Knoxville groundsman in his truck so we could borrow his ladder to get Jeremy (and Olivia's credentials) out.
The teams' Instant Challenge wasn't scheduled until Saturday morning, so we had the rest of Friday free! The nine Liardons drove to Gatlinburg for some food and fun. First stop...Pancake Pantry.
The Smoky Mountains have more pancake houses than I've ever seen. This restaurant came highly recommended, and it didn't disappoint.
After pancakes we watched a man pulling taffy. We stared at him until he invited us in for a taste.
After walking up and down the Gatlinburg strip we drove to the top of the mountain to
Ober Gatlinburg to ride the Alpine slide.
Isaac rode the ride about twelve times
while the others found their way around the Maze. Anna won. Lucy didn't.
It really was a fun day. And, I'd say I've come a long way. I walked around all day wearing the exact same shirt as everyone else and kept a smile on my face. The things we do for our kids. :)
