June~
*We had our 13th anniversary. We decided to spend it gorging ourselves at Perry's, then watching the end of an NBA playoff game at the bar at Chili's.
*Rose turned 6.
*Thomas did a basketball camp.
*We went to Orange Beach, Alabama with the Parrs and came home by way of New Orleans.
*We saw Coldplay when they came to Houston.
*The kids did VBS and I volunteered for Story Telling.
*We went to a wedding in Fort Worth.
July~
*Jeremy had a birthday, so he's my age now.
*Thomas and Anna spent a week with Mimi and Papa and visited Six Flags for the first time.
*Rose and Lucy learned how to swim, then spent a week between Mimi and Papa's and Nana and Podge's.
*We went to Salado for a Hutchison Reunion. I saw my first scorpion in all my 35 years in my room at the lodge. Let's be more specific. In my tub. I screamed like a girl, peed my pants, and begged Jeremy's aunt Susan to kill it for me. Let's just say, I was on edge the entire weekend.
*I hosted my cousin's bridal shower with my mom and Melanie. It was a special day, and I was proud of my flower arrangements. Then I had some cousin time in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
*We hosted the 2012 Cousin Kickback. There were a lot of people here. It was fun, chaotic, and oddly very relaxing.
*The girls went to Choir Camp at church and were in the musical Oh, Jonah!. We had really awesome seats because we got there early, then were told that our pew was needed for the play, and were kicked to the back. I fumed, never really got a glimpse of my girls, and still haven't completely gotten over it. Jeremy said I should be focusing on a lesson in all of this, like the last shall be first, blah blah blah. Whatever.
July 27-August 12--London 2012 Olympics, baby. That. Is. All. We. Did. My eyes are still twitching from the massive television viewing, paired with the lack of sleep from the Olympics. But maybe my favorite Olympics ever. The entire family was into it. LOVE.
August~
*The Browns came for a weekend visit and Amanda even made dinner for us. It was awesome because the Browns share our Olympics love, and Scott is a swim coach. It's fun to watch Olympic swimming with a pro.
*Thomas did another basketball camp.
*Rose did her very first soccer camp. It was a shaky start to the week, but she ended up enjoying it I think. If anything, she was adorable in her pig tails and pink soccer socks and cleats.
*Isaac turned 1. He did this without asking my permission, and did not have my blessings to do so. We had a party for him, anyway, but I'll give that its own blog post.
*We saw Jason Mraz with Shawn and Shonna. And we ate at Hubble and Hudson's for the first time. Also, everyone realized how not-a-foodie I am when they had to tell me what a truffle was. I thought it was a dessert. A fruiting body of a subterranean mushroom? Who knew?
And now, photo proof of some of the above rant...
Hutchison reunion 2012
One of the arrangements I was proud of.
Erin and her fearless hostesses.
My cousin Erin. She's pretty. And a nice, humble, funny, honest, adorable person.
Cousin time at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I set the camera up on the trunk of someone's car. It works. Sort of.
All of these people were at our house. Sleeping. Eating. Laughing. Kicking back.
Choir Camp--There never was such a cute bunch of Ninevites.
The Liardon and Brown offspring
See what the Olympics did to me? It was 7:00 PM, and my 4-year-old was sans shirt and still in her pajama bottoms from the night before.
